Unloading

The trip is done and we have finally pulled into our driveway. Our heads are full of memories but the car is trashed. Our freshly packed bags are now bogged down with sweaty stinky clothes and blankets. What do we do first?

Here are a couple of quick tips to keep the unloading from being overbearing:

Clean as you go. Every time we stop to fill up on gas or enjoy a new site we clean out all of the garbage.

Every place we stay at we take everything out of the car and repack before we head out. This allows us to pack what we know we need in an easier to access place before we head out on our next adventure.

Pack half of the clothes you will need for the whole trip and find a place to do laundry. This will keeps things under control and when you get home you will not be overwhelmed with 10 loads of laundry. If you can find a laundromat on the way home and do a quick wash and you won't have any laundry to do the next day.

Plan a day for unloading. My husband is off until the 21st. We will arrive home on the 20th. This allows for one day to unpack and rest from vacation. Hanging out with the kids, exploring, and adventures are amazing but they are also wearing.

Clean your house before you leave. Coming home to a fresh clean bed and no chores is refreshing. For a moment you won't have anything to do.

Write down your memories from the trip in a journal every night so you can remember all the great times and moments you shared together.

Gratitude Practice
1) I am grateful for a washer and dryer
2) I am grateful for my own bed
3) I am grateful for my own blankets
4) I am grateful for all the hard work cleaning I did before we left.
5) I am grateful for my veggie garden.
6) I am grateful for neighbors who watch out for your home.
7)  I am grateful for keys that lock our doors.
8)  I am grateful for my husband.
9) I am grateful for the ability to drive.
10) I am grateful for the opportunity to go on vacation.

Things I have Accomplished:
1) I have done all of the driving for our vacation.
2) I have unloaded my car entirely.
3) I have snuggled with my pets.

Goal (Written as if it has already been achieved):
I have an awesome morning and evening schedule!

What is your favorite part of coming home? Do you like unpacking or do you save it for the last possible moment?
